Nose Reshaping/Rhinoplasty


Rhinoplasty or Nose reshaping surgery is performed to improve the appearance and proportions ofthe nose. It enhances the facial symmetry, harmony and self-confidence. It may also correct breathing problems due to structural defects. Various features can be changed which include:

      1.  Change in Nose size, in relation to facial balance
      2.  Change of Nose width, at the bridge or in the size and position of the nostrils
      3. Change in Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
      4. Change in Nasal tip, that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked
      5. Change in Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
      6. Change of Nasal asymmetry


      1. Normally General anaesthesia with local infiltration.
      2. Sometimes Local anaesthesia


The incisions are normally hidden at the nostril base and/or inside the nose allow access to reshape underlying cartilage and/or bone. This may include lowering humps, narrowing of nasal bones, shaping of the nasal tip or nostril size and improving the angle between the nose and the upper lip. Various surgical procedures and techniques are used to achieve the aesthetically pleasing nasal shape.


The nose is covered with the dressing and splint for 5 days. A change becomes visible within six to eight weeks following surgery, with continued refinement for six to 12 months. Cartilage is a flexible and growing tissue; therefore results following surgery are not fully predictable.
